Bears invite Buffalo offensive lineman to training camp |
Sometimes you just need a chance.
The Chicago Bears have invited Desmond Bessent to their training camp, according to his agency. Bessent is a graduate of the University at Buffalo, where he played as an offensive lineman. In his final year at Buffalo, Bessent started in all 13 games as a right tackle and was named to the All-MAC Third Team. He played a key role in blocking for an offense that was ranked in the top five in the conference in scoring offense, total offense, and passing offense. Before his time at Buffalo, Bessent transferred from San Diego State, where he played in 20 games and made two starts on the offensive line. In his first year at Buffalo in 2021, he started in two games at left tackle. Bessent is a graduate of Sickles High School in Tampa, FL where he also played basketball. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman has shown versatility on the field, which is likely what caught the eye of the Bears coaching staff. Bessent's acceptance of the training camp invite is a promising sign for his future in the NFL, and he will have a chance to showcase his abilities and make a case for a spot on the team's roster.
