LOOK: Javier Baez tributes cancer survivors Jon Lester, Anthony Rizzo

CLEVELAND — Per All-Star Game tradition, a tribute for past and present cancer patients took place following the fifth inning of the Midsummer Classic on Tuesday. Practically everyone at Progressive Field, including the coaches and players, held up a sign distributed by the Stand Up to Cancer initiative, on which the names of loved ones afflicted by cancer were written.

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez jotted three surnames down on his sign, one of which belongs to Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who is currently battling leukemia. The other two last names were that of Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester and Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who are both cancer survivors. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras stood next to Baez, and he honored Carrasco on his sign, too. The touching gestures by Baez and Contreras were assuredly appreciated by all involved.
