Roster Move: Cubs recall Mark Leiter Jr., option reliever

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today reinstated right-handed pitcher Mark Leiter, Jr. from the 15-day injured list (right forearm strain) and optioned right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts to Triple-A Iowa.

Leiter, Jr., 33, is 2-4 with a 5.34 ERA in 32 relief appearances with the Cubs this season. He was placed on the injured list on June 23.

Roberts, 27, has made three relief appearances for the Cubs this season and hasn’t allowed a run in 4.0 innings pitched.

The Cubs play at Baltimore tonight at 5:35 p.m. CT in a game that can be seen on the Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score.
