Report: Bears signing talented WR

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears are signing former Patriots receiver Damiere Byrd to a one-year deal, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

This signing should help a certain area of need for the Bears offense this upcoming season.

In 2020, Byrd registered a career-high 47 catches for 604 yards and a touchdown.

His numbers were decent despite being in the Patriots' 30th ranked offense. He had just one drop in 31 targets that were 10+ yards.

In 44 career games between the Panthers and Patriots, the 28-year-old has 91 catches for 1,092 yards and four touchdowns.

Byrd played football during his college days at South Carolina.
