WATCH: On-field interview with Addison Russell |
The Chicago Cubs finished off an impressive four-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon. The two runs that the Cubs gave up in the four games is the fewest runs given up in a four-game series since a series vs. the Mets in 1973.
One of the main offensive catalysts of the game was shortstop Addison Russell who had a triple and a sacrifice fly (3rd RBI of season) during the ballgame. Russell spoke with NBC Sports Chicago's Kelly Crull with an on-field interview moments after the game. "It feels great," he said about his day at the plate. "I've been in every at-bat especially with the team stepping up; it's just nice to see something go good today." Russell knows that the team's pitching staff has been dominant the last week. "They are throwing strikes early and mowing batters down. I think they are coming in with a solid gameplan and executing. They throw the ball and we field the ball. Our starting pitching staff has been doing great." The Cubs are riding high after the sweep of the rival Brewers. "It feels great, and it gives up a lot of confidence especially with a team in our division," he said.
