Bears News: Albert Almora Jr. placed on the disabled list

The Iowa Cubs have placed 22-year old outfielder Albert Almora Jr. on the disabled list with an injured thumb.

Almora Jr. injured his thumb last Wednesday on a defensive play. He tried to play through it but was lifted from the game after one at-bat.

He is more than likely headed for a September call-up with the big-league team with his standout defense, speed on the basepaths, and will give the Cubs depth at multiple outfield positions.

He batted .265 with two homers, seven doubles, nine RBIs, .422 slugging, and a .291 on-base percentage in 34 games with the Cubs.
