Cubs avoid arbitration with Javy Baez, signs contract for 2021 season

El Mago is getting paid.

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javy Baez and the Cubs agreed on a salary of $11.65 million for the 2021 season on Friday according to multiple reports.

Baez was paid a pro-rated $10 million last season.

It has been a big few weeks for the Baez household as they also recently welcomed a new baby into the world.

This will be somewhat historic if any Cubs players go through the arbitration process as only Ryan Theriot (2010) and Justin Grimm (2018) have in the last 27 years.

We hope to have official news soon on all five players.
