The Chicago Cubs traded right-handed pitcher Michael Arias to the New York Yankees for cash considerations on Wednesday.

Arias, who was recently designated for assignment by the Cubs (Jan. 12), had a solid 2024 season. He posted a 6-2 record with five saves and a 4.77 ERA across 60.1 innings pitched in 49 relief appearances split between Double-A Tennessee (16 games) and Triple-A Iowa (33 games).

Over four seasons in the Cubs organization, he had an 11-17 record with eight saves and a 4.25 ERA in 182 innings over 97 games, including 32 starts.

Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays on July 4, 2018, Arias was released by Toronto in May 2020.

He later signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on January 15, 2021.
