(00:00–01:43): Ben Brown starts on the mound for the Cubs at Wrigley after previous appearances in Tokyo and against the A’s.

Padres jump out to an early 2-0 lead with walks, infield hits, and RBI singles from Tatis Jr. and Bogaerts.

(02:51–04:33): Cubs respond quickly with a rally featuring walks, base hits, and aggressive baserunning.

Justin Turner ties it 3-3 with a sac fly and a fielding error lets Nico Hoerner score, giving Cubs a 4-3 lead.

(05:21–06:08): Confusion on the mound with Padres pitcher Donaldson getting a B-43 (balk) call for switching pitching stances.

Cubs capitalize and finish the inning with 5 runs, now leading 5-3.

(07:13–08:18): Cubs extend the lead to 6-3 as Kyle Tucker hits his first homer at Wrigley Field.

Ben Brown and defense (including a diving catch by Happ) keep Padres at bay.

(09:06–10:05): Padres chip away: a homer cuts Cubs’ lead to 6-4, then an RBI single from Arraez makes it 6-5.

Cubs add a run to lead 7-5, but defensive heroics from Machado prevent more.

(10:05–11:10): Padres aggressively run the bases. One runner gets thrown out at home, but Merrill scores soon after to tie the game 7-7.

(12:02): Fielding error by Cubs (missed double-play transfer) allows Tatis Jr. to score the go-ahead run. Padres now lead 8-7.

(13:06–end): Cubs fail to respond in the bottom of the 9th.

Final: Padres win 8-7 after Cubs blow a 4-run lead. Bullpen issues and walks prove costly.
