The Chicago Cubs salvaged a 10-4 home win in the final game of the rivalry series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night.
The Cubs' offense erupted for 14 hits, with Gomes leading the way with three, including a homer. “We’d take this style of win every day,” said Gomes, who was activated from the injured list prior to the game. “But I think what’s consistent is our ability to put guys on, keep putting the pressure on. I think we just stick with it. Hits are gonna come. Today, hits came.” Patrick Wisdom also went deep for his MLB-tying 12th homer of the season. “It’s exciting,” Wisdom said. “You can kind of see the excitement. The emotion comes out with all of us when we come through. We have a great lineup, and I think no one was, in a sense, panicking about it. Justin Steele had another impressive performance giving up only three runs in six innings of work to notch his sixth win of the season. Check out all the highlights below:
