WATCH: Madrigal, Amaya team up for defensive gem against Marlins |
Chicago Cubs third baseman Nick Madrigal is showing why he might need more playing time.
During Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins, he threw a perfect strike to gun down a Marlins runner trying to score at home. Cubs rookie catcher Miguel Amaya positioned himself perfectly to block the plate and tagged out the runner on a bang-bang play. The Cubs were able to keep the Marlins off the scoreboard and preserve their lead. Three Marlin runners made it to third base in the inning, but all three failed to score. The Marlins lead 2-0 in the sixth inning. Check out the defensive gem below: Madrigal with a strike, Amaya blocks the plate and the @Cubs get the lead runner! pic.twitter.com/i8FzTGVQYf
