WATCH: Sergio Alcantara tattoos pitch for first home run of season

Sergio Alcantara got underneath a fastball and launched it out to right field for his first home run as a Cub.

SAN DIEGO — Going yard for the first time in a Chicago Cubs uniform, shortstop Sergio Alcantara smashed a 387-foot home run on Wednesday. The towering solo dinger provided the Cubs with an insurance run, putting them up 3-1 over the San Diego Padres in the top of the eighth.

Alcantara's first homer of the season sailed out to right field at Petco Park, leaving the bat at 100.6 mph and 31 degrees. The long ball came on a 94.6-mph four-seamer thrown by reliever Emilio Pagan, giving Alcantara, who was added to the Cubs' active roster on May 30, his second RBI of the year.
