Cubs activate Matt Szczur from Disabled list

SAN FRANCISCO – The Chicago Cubs today activated outfielder Matt Szczur off of the 15-day disabled list. Right-handed pitcher Neil Ramirez has been designated for assignment.

Szczur, 26, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 3 with a right hamstring strain. He is batting .367 (11-for-30) with nine runs scored, one double, two homers and 10 RBI in 21 games with the Cubs this season. Szczur played in one game in a rehab assignment with Double-A Tennessee, going 0-for-1 with a walk and run scored.

Ramirez, 26, had no record and a 4.70 ERA (4 ER/7.2 IP) in eight relief appearances for the Cubs this season.
