Bears hiring son of four-time Super Bowl champion as defensive coach

The Chicago Bears have made another addition to their coaching staff, reportedly bringing on former Seattle Seahawks defensive assistant coach Kenny Norton III.

Norton, the son of four-time Super Bowl champion Ken Norton Jr., adds some youth and fresh perspective to the Bears' defensive staff.

A former defensive back at Azusa Pacific University, Norton III is still looking to make his mark in the NFL coaching ranks. His father, Ken Norton Jr., is a respected coach in the league and served as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021 under head coach Pete Carroll.

In 2021, Norton III joined his father's staff in Seattle as a defensive assistant, before moving on to UCLA in 2022 as a football analyst.

Norton III's addition to the Bears' staff also continues the trend of the team looking to add younger coaches with fresh perspectives.

Norton III's experience coaching players like Bobby Wagner, Jamal Adams, and K.J. Wright should also serve him well in Chicago as he works to develop a defense that can compete in the tough NFC North.

With a young, talented roster and a coaching staff that is committed to development, the Bears are positioning themselves to be a competitive force in the NFC for years to come.
