Bears invite All-Conference edge rusher D’Anthony Jones for rookie minicamp

Houston edge rusher D’Anthony Jones is reportedly set to tryout with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.

The three-year starter has been invited to the Bears' rookie minicamp and plans to attend if he doesn't sign with another team, according to a league source.

Jones has also drawn interest from several other teams, including the Ravens, Commanders, and Raiders.

Jones has had an impressive college career, racking up 65 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, 97 pressures, and 39 stops in 888 snaps.

The all-conference selection set a record with five forced fumbles last season, which tied for the NCAA lead and had eight sacks. In 2021, he had four forced fumbles and seven sacks.

Standing at 6-3 and weighing 270 pounds, Jones posted a career 87.5 pass-rush grade in college. He was one of the most productive players in college football with 52 pressures and led all of college football with a 93.1 pass rush grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

This is a talented player that should have been drafted.

The Bears will have a chance to evaluate him during rookie minicamp if he doesn't get signed before then and determine if he has what it takes to make an impact at the next level.

If he does, he could provide a welcome addition to the team's defense.
