Chicago Bears star pass rusher Montez Sweat has missed nearly two weeks of practice as he deals with an undisclosed injury.

Bears defensive coordinator Eric Washington said Tuesday that Sweat was able to return to practice in a limited role but did not participate in team drills for the seventh consecutive practice.

“He’s taken a step to getting back to practice,” Washington said.

The Bears still have over three weeks until they play the Tennessee Titans in the first regular season game of the season.

“I don’t have any concerns as far as his readiness and availability on Week 1,” Washington said. “He’s making progress and trending in the right direction as far as getting 100% healthy.”

Sweat was impressive in his first year with the Bears last season, with 38 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
