Bears tender contracts to two defenders

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears announced that they have tendered one-year deals to cornerback Josh Blackwell and defensive tackle Andrew Brown.

Blackwell was an important special teams performer last season in his rookie year, with 11 tackles.

He was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He was waived by them, and the Bears grabbed him on a waiver claim the following day.

Brown had one tackle in five games with the Bears.

He was a fifth-round pick of the 2018 draft out of Virginia.

The Bears identified that both of these young players are solid contributors for 2023 and didn't want to lose them in free agency.
