Roster Move: Bears signing veteran linebacker Dylan Cole

by - Senior Editor -

Another day, another bold move by the Monsters of the Midway.

The Chicago Bears signed veteran linebacker Dylan Cole to a one-year contract on Thursday.

The 28-year-old visited Halas Hall on Wednesday and apparently liked what he saw from the organization and future teammates.

Cole has been in the NFL for six seasons playing the last two with the Tennessee Titans. During his NFL career, Cole has 147 tackles, two sacks, nine passes defended, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one touchdown.

He had 8 starts with 64 tackles last season, including a career-best 10 special teams tackles and a forced fumble.

In 2017, Cole became the first rookie in NFL history to record at least five total tackles, a sack and an interception returned for a touchdown during a single game.

He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri State in 2017. He finished his collegiate career with 46 starts and recorded 457 tackles, 40.5 tackles for loss, 21 passes defended, five sacks, five interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

There was a need for another linebacker on the roster with the recent losses of Nicholas Morrow and Matt Adams.
