Bears sign veteran safety Duron Harmon

by - Senior Editor -

This is a solid move for the Monsters of the Midway.

The Chicago Bears announced that they have signed veteran safety Duron Harmon to the 53-man active roster off the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad on Tuesday.

Duron is an 11-year veteran with 161 games and 78 career starts and a three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots. He also has had stints with the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions.

In 2022, he had a career-high 86 tackles, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles with the Raiders.

He has 23 career interceptions in 161 total games.

"He has experience in a lot of different systems," Eberflus said after the signing. "We like the man. He's a really good football player, but he's also a really good person. We feel good where that is. We think he can bring some stability to that in the safety room."

The need for added depth in the secondary was necessary with Eddie Jackson's left foot injury that has sidelined him for the last two games.

With so many injuries in the Bears secondary, Harmon might need to be ready to play for Thursday night's game against the Washington Commanders.
