ESPN analyst thinks Bears draft class will have 'biggest impact' in 2023 |
The Chicago Bears drafted several of their team needs for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Led by Darnell Wright from Tennessee, the Bears found them a starting right tackle if everything goes as planned. ESPN analyst Matt Brown is extremely high on the Bears draft class and thinks they will have the 'biggest impact' this season. "The Bears added depth and talent at premium positions, with a couple of potential Day 3 steals. Darnell Wright is your Day 1 starter at right tackle. Both Gervon Dexter Sr. and Zacch Pickens have the traits to create interior disruption on the defensive front, and corner Tyrique Stevenson brings a physical play demeanor to the secondary. Plus, running back Roschon Johnson and wide receiver Tyler Scott could factor into the offensive game plan as rookies."
He is also very high on draft pick Tyrique Stevenson out of Miami.
"It's the play demeanor and the coverage fit in Matt Eberflus' defense that have me excited about this match," Bowen wrote. "Stevenson shows the physical coverage skills to match up with boundary X receivers in the Bears' nickel sets, which would allow Kyler Gordon to stay inside at the slot position. Plus, Stevenson can reroute in Cover 2, jamming and sinking. And he will hit in the run game, too. He had 68 tackles and three interceptions over the past two years."
Of course, as with any draft class, there are no guarantees. It remains to be seen how these rookies will perform once they hit the field, and how they will fit into the Bears' system.
But there is no denying that this draft class has the potential to be one of the most impactful in recent memory, and Bears fans have reason to be excited about the future of their team. If these rookies can live up to their potential, the Bears could be looking towards a very bright future.
