Roster Moves: Bears place Dante Pettis on injured reserve, waive receiver Joe Reed

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears announced on Friday that the have placed receiver Dante Pettis on injured reserve and waived receiver Joe Reed.

Pettis had 19 catches for 245 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Overall during his pro career, he has 52 catches for 739 yards and nine touchdowns.

Since Pettis is on IR, this likely means that Velus Jones Jr. will make the 53-man roster as Pettis and him were in a battle for a roster spot.

Reed signed with the Bears in January and was a fifth-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2020.

His only action was his rookie season in which he averaged 20.7 yards on 21 kickoff returns.

The Beares will need to waive 33 players by Tuesday’s cut deadline at 3 p.m. CT.
