Rumors: Will Anderson could slip to Bears at No. 9

by - Senior Editor -

The NFL Draft is always full of surprises, and this year is no exception. One of the most intriguing prospects in this year's draft is Alabama linebacker Will Anderson.

Anderson has been widely considered one of the best defensive players in college football for the past few years, and he has the awards and accolades to back it up.

However, there are rumors that Anderson's draft stock may be slipping, which could mean that he falls into the lap of the Chicago Bears at the ninth overall pick.

"If Will Anderson doesn’t go to Houston at 2, I could see him falling all the way down to the Chicago Bears at 9," Pro Football Focus' Ben Brown tweeted.

Of course, all of this speculation is just that: speculation. The draft is an unpredictable event, and anything can happen once the picks start flying off the board.

However, if Anderson does slip to the ninth overall pick, the Bears would be wise to pounce. Chicago has a history of strong defensive play, and Anderson could be just the player to take their defense to the next level.

His pass-rushing ability would be a welcome addition to a team that struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks last season.

Anderson's college career speaks for itself. In just three seasons at Alabama, he racked up an impressive 34.5 sacks and 58.5 tackles for loss.

He was a three-time All-SEC performer, earning first-team honors in both 2021 and 2022. Anderson also won multiple awards during his time at Alabama, including the Nagurski Trophy, the Bednarik Award, and the Lott Trophy.
