Chicago Bears make four roster moves

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears announced on Tuesday the signing of wide receiver Isaiah Ford and linebacker Buddy Johnson, while simultaneously waiving linebacker Sterling Weatherford and punter Ryan Anderson.

A seventh-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2017 NFL Draft from Virginia Tech, Ford has displayed promise during his four-year tenure with Miami.

While he mostly served in a depth role, Ford managed to make an impact in 32 games, starting in three of them. Over the course of his career, he accumulated 63 receptions for 681 yards and found the end zone twice.

He also had a stint with the Colts on their practice squad last season.

Johnson was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite spending parts of the previous season on the practice squads of the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans, Johnson brings youth and athleticism to the Bears' defense.

During his time in college at Texas A&M, he registered 209 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and an interception.

Both players will have to impress during training camp and preseason to likely make the roster.

As fans eagerly anticipate the start of the regular season, they will be watching closely to see how these new roster additions, Isaiah Ford and Buddy Johnson, integrate into the team's strategies and contribute to the Bears' overall performance on the field. Only time will tell.
