Talented cornerback Cory Trice visits Bears for Top-30 visit

by - Senior Editor -

Purdue cornerback Cory Trice made a visit with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

This comes after a previous visit earlier this week with the New Orleans Saints, indicating that Trice is garnering interest from multiple teams ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Trice played five seasons at Purdue and had a solid career for the Boilermakers. He accumulated 106 tackles, four tackles for loss, five interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, and 15 pass deflections during his time with the team.

In the 2022 season, Trice had 34 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and 10 pass deflections.

Dane Brugler, an analyst for The Athletic, ranks Trice as the 14th-best cornerback in the draft and the 88th overall player. This is a testament to Trice's impressive size, speed, and press coverage skills, making him a sleeper pick in the draft.

At 6'3" and weighing 206 pounds, Trice possesses the physical tools that NFL teams look for in a cornerback. His impressive 40-time of 4.47 seconds shows that he has the speed to keep up with opposing receivers. Additionally, Trice's press coverage skills make him a valuable asset in disrupting the timing and rhythm of opposing offenses.

Trice's visit with the Bears is an indication that the team is looking to bolster its secondary ahead of the upcoming season.

With the NFL Draft coming up soon, it will be interesting to see where Trice lands and how he performs at the next level.
