Bears signing defensive back Bralen Trahan after rookie camp tryout

The Chicago Bears have added some depth to their secondary by signing ULL defensive back Bralen Trahan who impressed the coaching staff during the team's minicamp tryout this weekend.

Trahan, who was signed by the team on Saturday, is known for his productivity as a three-year starter but has some limitations, including a lack of top-end speed.

Despite his weaknesses, Trahan has a lot of strengths that make him an attractive addition to the Bears' roster.

He has a strong ability to quickly diagnose plays and flow laterally, which allows him to cut off corners from running backs and take proper angles to plays.

In 2022, he had 78 tackles with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, four interceptions and three pass deflections.

He is also an aggressive tackler who wraps up well, displaying decent range on the field with a burst to the ball out of his plant.

The Bears' coaching staff clearly saw enough potential in him to sign him after his tryout, and Trahan will now have the opportunity to compete for a spot on the roster during training camp.

He has the potential to be a reliable backup who can contribute on special teams and provide solid depth in the secondary.
