CHICAGO — A scoreless six-inning start by Yu Darvish highlighted the series-opening win garnered by the Chicago Cubs (5-2) on Friday. The North Siders took down the Pittsburgh Pirates (2-5) by a final tally of 6-3 at Wrigley Field in the first installment of a three-game set.

At the dish, Javier Baez pulled off a perfectly executed bunt single that helped the Cubs get on the board, and Jason Kipnis went yard for the first time as a Cub. Although maligned Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel gave up back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the ninth, the Cubs held on for the victory.
