Bears News: Kris Bryant removed from game due to injury

ST. LOUIS — With the Chicago Cubs trailing the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 at Busch Stadium, Kris Bryant was removed from the game midway through the fifth inning on Tuesday. Ian Happ entered and took over for Bryant in left field.

Bryant laid out for a diving catch in the bottom of the third and showed signs of discomfort after making the grab. Later in the third frame, Bryant rocketed a powerful throw to second base. He remained in the game for the time being, though, but his spot in the batting order did not come up again before he was pulled.

Ian Happ takes over in left field in the 5th for the Cubs. Kris Bryant is out. No reason given as of now. He did make a diving catch in the 3rd inning.

UPDATE: In the midst of trade rumors running amok on social media, the Cubs announced that Bryant left the game due to right hamstring fatigue, not because he was traded.
