Bears News: Tyler Chatwood agrees to deal with Blue Jays |

The Blue Jays have reached a one-year deal worth $3 million with veteran righty Tyler Chatwood.
The deal could be worth as much as $5.5 million based on performance incentives and a physical still needs to be approved. The organization had an interest in Chatwood before he signed with the Cubs on his previous 3-year, $38 million deal in free agency. The plan reportedly is to use Chatwood out of the bullpen instead of a starter this upcoming season. As a Cubs player in 67 appearances, he had a 4.70 ERA across 199 innings as a starter and middle reliever. In 2020, he had a 2-2 record with a 5.30 ERA over five starts. Since 2017, he is ranked around the 90th percentile on fastball and curve spin rate. He will join a Blue Jay rotation consisting of Hyun Jin Ryu, Robbie Ray, Tanner Roark, Nate Pearson, and Ross Stripling.
