Tuesday brought some encouraging news as several members of the Chicago Cubs are close to being back from their various injuries.
Relief pitcher Codi Heuer, who is currently with the Iowa Cubs, continues to make strides in his recovery. Heuer is set to throw again in the coming days, marking a positive step forward in his rehabilitation process. The Cubs will closely monitor his progress and evaluate when he will be ready to rejoin the team's bullpen. In the case of Cody Bellinger, the focus on Tuesday will be tracking pitches only (non-swinging) in the batting cages. After participating in light drill work in the batting cages during the team's visit to Philadelphia, Bellinger is mostly resting his knee today. Kyle Hendricks threw a bullpen session today in Chicago, which is a positive sign that he is making progress and moving closer to a return to the Cubs' starting rotation. The 'Professor' has five rehab appearances with the Iowa Cubs, posting a 2-1 record and a 5.75 ERA.
