CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Jacob Webb on a one-year major league contract with a club option for 2027. The 40-man roster stands at 35 players.

Webb, 32, is 17-14 with a 2.99 ERA (84 ER/197.0 IP) and seven saves across 247 career major league relief appearances with the Braves (2019-21), Angels (2023), Orioles (2023-24) and Rangers (2025). He has appeared in at least 54 games in three-straight seasons, including a career-high 60 outings in 2024. Among major league pitchers with at least 240 appearances since 2019, Webb is one of 18 with an ERA under 3.00 (2.99).

Webb in 2025 spent his lone season with the Texas Rangers, going 5-4 with a 3.00 ERA (22 ER/66.0 IP) in 55 games. The righthander’s 66.0 innings marked a career high, while his 58 strikeouts and five wins matched career-bests. He held opponents to an average exit velocity of 86.6 mph, ranking in the 95th percentile in the majors, per Baseball Savant. Over his final 32 games of the season from May 31-end of the season, Webb pitched to a 1.52 ERA (7 ER/41.1 IP), which included a career-long 13.2-inning scoreless streak from Aug. 27-Sept. 27.

A Riverside, Calif., native, Webb pitched his first three seasons in the major leagues with Atlanta. He posted a 1.39 ERA (5 ER/32.1 IP) in 36 games during his rookie campaign in 2019, becoming the second pitcher in Braves franchise history to not allow a run in at least nine-straight appearances to begin his major league career.

Originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 18th round in the 2014 draft, Webb attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan.
