Bears reportedly open to trading No. 9 overall pick

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears have a lot of decisions to make heading into the 2023 NFL Draft.

One of those decisions could involve trading away their ninth overall pick. Bears Chairman George McCaskey recently stated on ESPN1000 that he and the team are open to the idea of trading their top 10 pick if the right offer comes along.

McCaskey stated, "We are in a good spot at 9, and if Ryan Poles sees a player he likes at 9, we will go get him. Otherwise, who knows? Maybe another trade."

This statement suggests that the team is keeping an open mind about their draft strategy and is willing to explore all options.

ESPN 1000's David Kaplan confirmed that the Bears are definitely open to trading their ninth overall pick.

"A lot of smoke out of the owners' meetings that the Chicago Bears are absolutely open for business trading the 2023 ninth overall pick," he said.

Of course, the Bears could also use their ninth overall pick to draft a player that they believe can immediately contribute to the team. Some potential areas of need for the Bears include offensive line, wide receiver, and cornerback, among others. With a top 10 pick, the team should have the opportunity to select a player that can help improve their roster.

Regardless of their decision, the Bears will need to make the most of their draft picks to improve their roster and compete in the highly competitive NFC North division.
