A new guy in the trenches is always needed.

The Chicago Bears have signed veteran defensive lineman Mike Pennel to a one-year deal according to multiple reports including his agent.

This signing was important to provide depth on the defensive line since standout defensive lineman Eddie Goldman still hasn't arrived to minicamp this week.

The 30-year-old played the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs where he was part of a Super Bowl-winning team.

In 2020, he had 29 tackles in 14 games played.

Pennel has played in 91 career games over seven NFL seasons. Overall, he registered 155 tackles including eight tackles for loss, two sacks and 13 quarterback hits.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo in 2020 signing with the rival Packers.
