Bears sign Connecticut RB Robert Burns to free agent deal

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears have made another addition to their roster by signing undrafted free agent UCONN running back Robert Burns.

Burns took to social media to express his excitement.

"Chicago Bears, LET'S GO! I promise you’re getting everything I got! Glory to God! And to my friends and family, thanks for holding me down- especially UConn Nation," he tweeted."

Burns is a versatile fullback with running back abilities, who heads to Chicago after an impressive 2022 season where he amassed a career-high 374 rushing yards on 74 attempts, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, and scoring two touchdowns.

Standing at 5-11 and weighing in at 253 pounds, Burns is a strong blocking back who can be a valuable asset in both the running and passing game.

He scored an impressive 8.79 out of a possible 10.00 in the Relative Athletic Score (RAS) ranking, placing him at 62 out of 506 fullbacks from 1987 to 2023.

The former Connecticut player is also the co-founder of Second Spoon, a non-profit organization that provides excess food from college dining halls to those in need. Burns founded the organization along with his roommate while he was at the University of Miami.

Although Burns went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, his skills and experience can be a valuable addition to the Bears' offense, especially as a strong blocking fullback.
