Roster Move: Bears sign former Cardinals DB Christian Matthew

The Chicago Bears have added former Arizona Cardinals defensive back Christian Matthew on Tuesday.

Matthew was released from the Cardinals' active roster this week, and the Bears have scooped him on their practice squad.

The 26-year-old cornerback has played in 18 games, including three starts in his two pro seasons.

This is much-needed depth for the Bears secondary as Kyler Gordon and Josh Blackwell are both on injured reserve, Jaylon Johnson missed last game, and Eddie Jackson has a foot injury.

Matthew was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh round (244th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.

It should be interesting to see if Matthew is flexed out on Thursday to the active roster for the game against the Washington Commanders.
