Virginia WR reportedly to visit Bears on Top-30 visit |
The Chicago Bearse will host Virginia receiver Dontayvion Wicks on a top-30 visit Thursday according to multiple reports.
Wicks will visit with the Green Bay Packers today. He has a bigger frame, standing 6’1″ and weighing 205 pounds while posting an elite Relative Athletic Score of 9.49 out of 10. The majority of Wicks’ playing time came over the last two seasons, where he lined up on the boundary and was frequently targeted downfield. In fact, only 20 of Wicks’ 93 targets in 2021 came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, according to PFF. That season, he could catch 57 of those aforementioned 93 targets at a massive 21.1 yards per catch with nine touchdowns. That season, Wicks was one of the best downfield targets in college football, ranking 11th in total yards on passes of 20-plus yards. Wicks exploded for 1,203 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2021, averaging over 21 yards per reception, averaging over 21 yards per reception, making that yardage mark a single-season career high. In 2022, Wicks’ production took a dip, as he caught only 30 of the 72 passes thrown his way. He missed the final few games of the season with an injury. Additionally, Wicks’ hands are a question, with drops becoming a major factor in 2022. According to Pro Football Focus, he dropped nine passes last season, perhaps due in part to a change in an offensive scheme that had him running more timing routes. Still, that could well be a topic of discussion when the Bears meet with Wicks in the coming weeks. The wide receiver will look to impress the team and add to his growing list of potential suitors as the NFL Draft approaches.
