Bears listed as potential trade candidate for Tyreek Hill

It has been a long time since the Bears were in the center of the rumor mill, as most of that chatter took place during free agency and the early part of the offseason. Here we are, one week into the OTA offseason programs, and the Bears once again find themselves at the center of the rumor mill. It's a rumor that came out of nowhere.

According to NFL Insider Mike Florio, the Chicago Bears have officially been named dropped as one of the potential teams exploring a trade for Tyreek Hill. You heard that right, the Bears are mentioned in the same sentence as Hill as a possible trade fit, and it does make you wonder how good this offense can be.

Already with an improved offense loaded with Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, and Luther Burden, among others, at the Wide Receiver position, adding a player like Hill not only takes this offense over the top but could give the Bears the most dynamic wide receiver room in the league. Keep in mind that new running backs coach Eric Bieniemy was Hill's offensive coordinator during his time in Kansas City, and it's worth wondering if that past history is influencing this rumor.

There is no question that Hill was a once-in-a-generation talent during his time with Kansas City, as he was one of the fastest wide receivers ever to play the game. Sure, he is much smaller than your typical wide receiver, but when you run a sub-4.26 40, you don't need size; you let your speed do the work, which Hill has done throughout his career.

Whether it be taking the top off the defense as a vertical threat or running quick slants to get into the open field, Hill has always been a nightmare to defend, and should you put him in this offense, we would make the Bears offense a nightmare to prepare for as he would be an element this team has never had. Pair that with the big arm of Caleb Williams, and his addition could be something special in Chicago, as Ben Johnson would work wonders with him on this team.

Going back to the beginning of April, Dolphins general manager Mike Grier has already discussed the possibility of not only trading Hill, but it has also reached the point where a trade seems imminent. With the June 1 tender deadline now in the rearview mirror, trading him now would make things easier for Miami, as they could spread out his remaining contract over the next two seasons to provide less of a financial impact.

While the Bears aren't the only team mentioned on the list, they could be the most promising team, as the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Houston Texans are also potential targets for Hill. Don't count out the Kansas City Chiefs as a dark horse, as Hill returning to where his career began may not be as far-fetched as it seems.

Even with Bieniemy as the potential X-Factor when it comes to getting a deal done, any team that will be looking to trade for the veteran speedster is going to have to give up a ton of ammo, which is why trading for him isn't going to come easily. It may even require parting ways with Moore to finalize the deal, and that may not be something Chicago is willing to do, considering how successful Moore has been since joining the team.

However, given the turbulent relationship between Hill and the Dolphins, all it would take is for one team to come in and sway Hill, which could ultimately set the wheels in motion for a deal to be finalized. Hill is not only the definition of a playmaker, but he is a veteran who knows what it takes to win at the highest level.

Adding him to any offense is one of those pieces who could put that team over the mountain top and take them from playoff contenders to potential Super Bowl contenders. Given Hill's connection to Bieniemy, if he were to consider Chicago, that could be the reason.

As important as it is for Chicago to continually add to its roster, adding the 31-year-old Hill doesn't seem like a good fit, even if it improves their offense. He is not only owed a substantial amount of money for the next two seasons but is also coming off a season in which he failed to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in five seasons.

Much of that had to do with the Dolphins' quarterback situation, as they had a revolving door under center all season. You also have to consider the situation that Chicago is in, as they are not yet in win-now mode. Adding Hill could put them in that situation, but it could also hurt them in terms of building for the future.
