Bears vs. Lions Betting Preview: Best Bets, Player Props and Parlays |
CHICAGO - The Chicago Bears' offense was underwhelming in week one, probably leading to some disappointment for bettors. Going against the Detroit Lions on Sun. Sept. 14 (Noon / FOX) will be a challenge for the offense and also make it harder for bettors since this team seems a little unpredictable to start the year off.
According to DraftKings, the Lions are currently favored to win by six points. However, the Bears typically play Detroit tough. In four of their last seven games against the Lions, the game has been decided by five points or less. Therefore, the Bears will cover the spread (-112). The payoff for Chicago covering the spread is $9.46 on a $5 bet. This game is also expected to be a high-scoring affair, with the over/under currently set at 46.5. Between Chicago and Detroit, they combined for 37 points. Detroit’s sole touchdown was a garbage-time touchdown, and the Bears' defense scored one of their touchdowns. Both teams have strong defenses, and therefore, the under is going to hit in this game (-108). The payoff for the under hitting is $9.62 on a $5 bet. Player Props As a rookie, quarterback Caleb Williams threw for 21 touchdowns. Five of them came in his two games against Detroit. The offense may have been stagnant in the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, but he still managed to throw a touchdown right at the end of the game. Given his history against the Lions and the fact that the Bears' offense lacks a running game, Williams will throw for at least two touchdowns (+118). The payoff for Williams throwing at least two touchdowns is $10.90 on a $5 bet. If Williams is going to score two touchdowns, some of his receivers are going to have to find the end zone. Receiver Rome Odunze was his favorite target in the season opener, targeting him nine times and throwing a touchdown to him right near the end of the game. There is a clear chemistry between Odunze and Williams, and that will be evident again against Detroit. That is why Odunze will find the endzone once again and score a touchdown in this game (+205). The payoff for Odunze scoring a touchdown is $15.25 on a $5 bet. Going into this season, DJ Moore was seen as Chicago’s top receiver. While that is arguably Odunze right now, Moore is still an elite receiver on this team. In the seven times he has played Detroit, Moore has averaged almost 100 receiving yards per game and has a total of five touchdowns. While it might not find the endzone in this game, Moore will have at least 70 receiving yards (+205). The payoff for Moore having at least 70 receiving yards is $15.25 on a $5 bet. Same-Game Parlay In a same-game parlay with Chicago covering the spread, the under hitting, Williams throwing at least two touchdowns, Odunze scoring a touchdow,n and Moore having at least 70 receiving yards (+6500), a $5 bet would have a payoff of $330. DraftKings Featured Parlay - “Friendly Rivals” This parlay is a two-leg parlay with Bears’ tight end Cole Kmet scoring a touchdown and fellow tight end Colston Loveland having at least 25 receiving yards. Both of these legs seem like a stretch since Kmet only had one reception, although he was targeted four times. On the other hand, Kmet has scored five touchdowns against Detroit, more than any other team. For Loveland, he only had two receptions for 12 yards in his NFL debut. It is certainly possible he could get to 25 yards, but it still seems unlikely. However, this parlay has quite the payoff. With odds at +1300, a $5 bet would have a payoff of $70.
