New general manager Ryan Poles is making moves early in his career in Chi-Town.
The Chicago Bears are finalizing a deal to trade star linebacker Khalil Mack to the Chargers for a second rounder this year and a sixth-rounder next season according to multiple reports. His contract runs through the 2024 season and this will open up around $6.15 million in cap space ($30.15 million salary for 2022) for more roster flexibility. Mack had six sacks in seven games last season as he battled through various injuries. In four years with the Bears, he has 36 sacks in 53 games. This was the time to trade Khalil Mack for the #Bears and new GM Ryan Poles, who makes his first bold move. Mack is 31, the best player on a bad roster, whose value never will be higher than now. So Poles sold high, with eye on future and likely plans to rebuild around offense.
