WATCH: Joc Pederson crushes two-run homer vs. Mariners

New Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson is trying to prove to the Cubs coaching staff that he is an everyday player.

For most of his career with the Dodgers, he has been a valuable platoon player in the outfield.

Early returns are positive, with Pederson in a Cubs uniform to replace the departed Kyle Schwarber (Schwarber hit a homer today).

On Wednesday, Pederson certainly was impressive as he smacked a no-doubt two-run homer into right-center with two outs in the first inning to put the Cubs up 2-0.

It was the first Cubs homer of the spring.
