Bears reportedly releasing two standouts

There is some interesting news this afternoon.
This move will save the team around $13.5 million against their cap next season as the team tries to re-configure to make a playoff push in 2020. Adding the $13.5 million puts the Bears at around $26-$27 million available with regards to salary cap room.
Gabriel and Amukamara will now be free agents and will more than likely draw interest from several teams this offseason. Releasing them this early gives teams ample time to think about signing them.
Amukamara had three interceptions in 44 games over three seasons with the Bears.
Gabriel registered 96 catches for six touchdowns in two seasons in Chicago.
Both players had injuries that slowed them down in 2019, and the Bears felt that money was best spent elsewhere.

The #Bears don’t want to go crazy in FA. It’s taken them years to qualify for a comp. pick.— Adam Jahns (@adamjahns) February 21, 2020
But space was needed to improve/bolster the most important position in sports: quarterback. They needed it to have more options.
