Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears vs Vikings

by - Correspondent -

Quarterback Justin Fields did alright in his return. But what fantasy owners were more excited about was the return of wide receiver DJ Moore to the end zone. For the first time since Chicago’s first win of the season against the Washington Commanders, Moore found the end zone. He also had 96 yards, the highest amount since the Commanders game.

So he is a definite start for in Fantasy Football against the Vikings, but what about the rest of the Bears?

Justin Fields - Sit

Fields consistently does not have a lot of passing yards. In fact, his 169 yards was the sixth game of the season, where he threw under 300 passing yards. What makes Fields look like such an appealing option is his rushing yards as last week against the Detroit Lions was the first time this season he has rushed for at least 100 yards. Going against the Minnesota Vikings, they are going to bring a lot of pressure. While this may force Fields to run the ball more, this also will most likely result in fewer touchdowns. Also, Fields only has one rushing touchdown this season, as Chicago typically runs D’Onta Foreman when they have the ball close to the goal line. Therefore, bench Fields this week, but he is not a bad option to keep around on your roster.

DJ Moore - Start

As previously mentioned, he is a definite start. Moore is undoubtedly the No. 1 receiver on the team, and with Fields back at quarterback, Moore is

getting the ball more and getting more yards. Besides the season opener, Moore has scored double digits in all games with Fields at quarterback in any points per reception (PPR) leagues. Therefore, start Moore, no matter what league you are in.

Khalil Herbert - Sit

Minnesota is one of the better-rushing defenses in the NFL. In fact, they are tied for No. 3 in the NFL in fewest yards per carry allowed with 3.7. Herbert is not splitting the backfield with Foreman as much as was originally predicted. However, his production was quite dismal like week, with an average of 2.2 yards per carry. Foreman was also given the ball in the red zone and had the only rushing touchdown in the game for the Bears. Herbert has not proven that he is a reliable back and should be left on the bench. He is someone to consider keeping around, but it would also be understandable to let him go.

D’Onta Foreman - Sit

With Herbert not being trusted to start, it brings about the question of whether Foreman should be started or not. No. With Herbert back in the lineup, he was out-carried 16 to 6, although Foreman got the touchdown. The only reason to consider starting Foreman would be if you are down five points going into Monday night and are confident Foreman will get another touchdown in this game. Besides that, Foreman is definitely someone to sit.

Cole Kmet - Sit

He saw a lot of targets with Tyson Bagent at quarterback, but with Fields back, his production has gone down. Against the Lions, he only had four targets and 20 receiving yards, his lowest since he was not even targeted against the Las Vegas Raiders back in week seven. Unless Bagent comes back, Kmet should be on the bench until further notice.
