Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears vs. Cardinals

by - Correspondent -

CHICAGO - Playing against the Cleveland Browns usually does not end well for fantasy and it did not for many Bears players last week. Luckily going against the Arizona Cardinals, that is a better matchup, which is particularly important now that it is the playoffs. Anyone with DJ Moore is in good shape while people with other players are left with some questions.

DJ Moore - Start

Moore is one of the few players that you can constantly rely on for fantasy points. In full points per reception (PPR) leagues, his position rank is No. 8 according to ESPN. Further, the Cardinals have allowed the third-most receiving touchdowns out of any team in the NFL. Some fantasy owners may question his production, particularly given the importance of this week for fantasy, but that was merely a result of the competition. Moore will score a lot more this week than he did last week.

Justin Fields - Start

Fantasy owners really ran out of luck last week. Fields played well the entire game despite having less rushing attempts than previous games. Still, he did not put the ball in jeopardy but his two interceptions on the hail mary attempts makes his numbers look worse than they truly are. The Cardinals are one of the weaker passing defenses in the league and Fields will probably get more rushing yards attempts than last week. He is more of a risk than Moore is. However, if you are someone in need of a quarterback with a lot of upside, then Fields is someone to start.

Cole Kmet - Start In Most Leagues

Tight ends have a clear top three and unless you have one of those top three, then you have a dilemma at tight end every week. Kmet may not be in that top three, but he does have a lot of upside. He is No. 8 among tight ends this season in targets and tied for second among tight ends in receiving touchdowns. Kmet is essentially the No. 2 receiver on the team and against this passing defense, Kmet is a player that should get a decent amount of receptions. Thus, he has an added bonus in PPR leagues since he gets the ball frequently.

Chicago Defense - Start

Over the last four games, the Chicago defense has 14 turnovers. In that same time period, quarterback Kyler Murray has been sacked 12 times and has fumbled the ball five times. This seems like the perfect recipe for the Bears defense to have a lot of points. They also got a touchdown last week and riding off that momentum, that is something that could happen again this week. The Chicago defense should be started in fantasy in all formats.

Everyone Else - Sit

Especially at such an important time, it is key to start the most reliable people in fantasy. Anyone else on the Bears is not reliable. The running back situation changes from week to week, Cairo Santos despite his season, has not been given many opportunities to score a lot of points. Any other receiver on the Bears is not someone that can be counted on, even in 12-team formats as someone to fill in for injuries. Outside of Moore and Kmet, there are not any reliable skill players on the Bears.
